Description

"Those of Noble blood don't drown," he said. "I'll have to put this through you to finish you off." [...] Staring at the gorgeous countenance that seemed to sparkle in the black water, he said, "How beautiful you are--and now, as a woman, I only feel it all the more. But if I were to do nothing, you'd destroy us all. So here you must die." --Vampire Hunter D: Mysterious Journey to the North Sea, Part 2, page 169

Yes! that is an actual bona fide male mermaid! Only from the mind of Kikuchi!

This one was fun. Tinted pallets always propose a challenge. It's been so long since I read this book, I barely remember what it was about or if the colours of the mermaid were defined. So, instead of unearthing the book and trying to find out what the colours should be, I just gave it whatever ones I wanted. =D Consequently, there is quite a rainbow of colours in the hair. The highlights everywhere were usually tinted green and the shadows were often purple. Everything else in between was subject to random bits of blue and red. Why is there a light over to the left? For the sole purpose of keeping everything from being lost in shadow. No other reason. Ha!

Really lovely upper body, great sense of flexibility in the tail.
